I love Mel L’s classes!! She walks the line of pushing me, modifying for me, and encouraging me. Today’s class was low impact, which is a nice switch up. I feel like I’ll have to go tomorrow to tomorrow mornings class to get my heart rate up, but I know I’m going to be sore after today. Thanks for making all your classes a safe, welcoming, and supportive space Mel L!

Mel has a great energy and makes everyone at class feel welcome. She makes sure the environment feels positive, uplifting, and fun, while providing a great workout! I always leave classes feeling throughly workout out, sweaty, and happy.

Offers excellent cues for technical components, helps us adjust the class based on our needs/experience/physiologic differences, and provides great encouragement when we’re huffing through the metcon. Would highly recommend for any ability level!

Mel was very helpful ensuring I do the proper form for dead lifts. It’s always a good workout when she’s coaching. I was able to get a PR today :)

Meg offered just the right amount of philosophical discourse and storytelling while explaining in simple terms what students should be doing with each body part. She demonstrated every movement, which I found helpful. And I liked that she’s offering a very timely heart-opening series as we all face a long winter ahead.

Really enjoyed this class- a few different exercises that kept you motivated but not too many to become overwhelming. Great mix of weights and cardio. Plus Mel is great- she keeps an eye on your form and is very engaged! Signing up for more classes as we speak!

Mel Adams was my first coach when I walked into a 5:30 a.m. class at Deep Roots Fitness 18 months ago. Right away, she made me feel welcome, calming my newbie nerves! Her expertise, motivation, and attention to each member’s progress make every class both challenging and rewarding. Mel consistently brings energy and encouragement, pushing us to go beyond our limits while prioritizing safe and effective techniques. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve seen significant improvements in my strength, endurance, and confidence.

Today was a truly remarkable day with Coach Mel! I've had some major struggles with back squats and pistols throughout my journey with CrossFit. Mostly due to mobility with my shoulders, ankles, and hips. I usually see these movements in a workout and just reside to doing something else that day. Today was different. Mel gave me 2 huge directional pointers that helped my squat depth and kept me upright in the correct form for the squat. It hurt so much, but I actually felt like I was performing the movement to the best of my ability and succeeding in doing it correctly. I actually felt like I might be able to a real back squat one day plus, I was almost at full depth. It was a game changer. Pistols, pistols, pistols... My nemesis since days of shoot the duck roller skating. Late in life pistols have made me nervous because of the strength needed and pressure added to one leg. In fact, as Mel put the thick black band around the rig, I felt nervous that it wouldn't hold me and could see myself falling backwards. What actually happened was that I did the best pistol form of my life. Not full depth, but full strengths & confidence. I Actually kept doing them to finished my set on the other leg even after the timer was up. As I age and try to keep up at the gym, today reminded me that it's not only good to keep striving and go out of my box, but it's so much easier when you have the valued support of your coach that keeps meeting you where you are at for the. By providing the right techniques and encouragement, Mel really made my day and week. Keep moving, keep going!! Fri- Yay!!!!

I was the only athlete in class today, so Melissa gave me my own personal session. It was a great experience. She helped me have fun working on my weak points, and got me through what was a very challenging WOD feeling like I crushed it. This experience is why I love CrossFit!

I love the precision with which Melissa chooses exercises to work specific muscles. It’s an art. In the start I don’t feel overwhelmed by the movements, which gives me some pep, but by the last reps I feel it exactly where I’m supposed to. I feel confident in her selection of exercises to target less obvious muscles in thoughtful configurations.
