This was my first class at VCF Athletics, and I truly felt motivated and pushed to work hard with coach Hannah. The class was HIIT style, which I know I enjoy, but what stood out was how Hannah guided us through a variety of exercises that kept me engaged the whole time. From intense bursts of cardio to strength moves that challenged my muscles in new ways, every part of the workout felt purposeful and fun. Hannah kept a close eye on form and encouraged us to push a little harder just when I thought I was reaching my limit. By the end, I was exhausted but energized in a way that made me want to keep coming back. I would definitely come back to a HIIT class, and I’m also interested in trying a CrossFit class in the future with VCF Athletics!

Kris is a PHENOMENAL coach; the absolute best. The top CF coach I’ve had - a former Games athlete who brings a level of expertise and intensity that’s rare to find. She’s no-nonsense, yet incredibly aware of each person’s background and ability. I’ve seen her carefully observe members during warm-ups, then thoughtfully cater movements and scaling to fit exactly where they’re at. As someone who’s done CrossFit for 10+ years, she has STILL been able to deliver break-through moments - most recently helping me with bar muscle-ups. I’ve witnessed the same for a variety of members, from brand new to highly experienced, as she patiently guides each one through progressions and adjustments that unlock their potential. VCF Athletics as a gym overall has the best coaches in the Valley, and I say this as someone who’s been a member at all the major affiliates in Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, and Studio City. Each coach here brings a unique strength and dedication, but what stands out is their consistent focus on form, safety, and pushing you just the right amount. They’re always moving through the class, offering corrections and scaling when needed. Valley CF is the best home for experienced athletes as well as brand new members. The vibe is the best thing about this place. It’s truly community-oriented with no ego. Walking in, you feel welcomed by everyone. Experience is a non-factor, it’s LGBTQ+- affirming/loving, the age demo of members is amazing (25-75), and the vibe is the best you can find. If you simply want great workouts and programming, this is your place. If you want a diverse community on top of it, even better. Plenty of social events to participate in as well, but no obligation whatsoever.

Amazing class!! It takes a lot out of you but I see progress in my movement and mobility every week! I've lost 30 lbs so far and I attribute it to lifestyle changes including taking this class! Hannah is a great instructor and she's very patient with all levels! :)
I’ve been doing CrossFit for 15+ years, and joining Valley CrossFit about a decade ago came with an unexpected bonus: getting coached by an actual CrossFit Games champion. Not just a finalist — the Fittest Woman on Earth in 2010. That still blows my mind. Kris is about 5'3", incredibly strong, and somehow makes the most technical movements look smooth and effortless. Her efficiency is unreal. She doesn’t just teach CrossFit she understands the body on a level that only a champion can. Every class with her is a new discovery. She has this mohawk, a sharp coaching eye, and a way of explaining mechanics that instantly clicks. You walk out better than you walked in, every single time. I love that every single class with her teaches me something new about my body, my mobility, my health, or how to perform a movement more efficiently. She’s a ball of knowledge wrapped in a mohawk and an endless supply of intensity. And let’s talk about her motivation… Kris doesn’t accept “no,” “I can’t,” or “I haven’t been here in a while.” She pushes you to show up as your best self, whether I just played 3 hours of pickleball or I have to scale a workout. She always finds a creative workaround when my mobility isn’t cooperating and somehow makes me feel empowered instead of limited. I look forward to her classes both mentally and physically. She’s tough, inspiring, ridiculously knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about helping you get better. Kris is awesome! it’s a privilege to be coached by her. I highly recommend taking her class.
Luke was helpful and patient in helping me get back to physical fitness after a months long hiatus. Super supportive but also challenging me to try a heavier weight when appropriate. Wonderful experience!

Simple workout today but was adequately instructed and warmed up slower than I would’ve done on my own but I’m also dumb and skip warmups and either underperform or get hurt or both so I’m always grateful for it.
As always classes at VCF are amazing and filled with people of all different levels and abilities. The training program at VCF is designed to adapt to any person at any level. We have members of all ages and genders. Coach Luke is knowledgeable and knows how to make every class great experience.
Luke is a great coach! He made the warm-up fun, and helped tweak my double under form to help me string more reps together.

Kris has taught me so much about my lifting technique, especially with gymnastics, in the few months I've got to work out with her. I have seen vast improvements in my movement efficiency and that has helped to improve my overall fitness. I enjoy her direct coaching style and look forward to each workout that she is coaching. Highly recommend you give her class a try!

Today’’s workout was technically challenging for me. Kris broke down the movements and gave the input that I need to improve. She adjusted the workout to your ability and made it challenging at the right level. It was a really fun morning class.
I gotta admit this is the guy who is attentive and not aggressive. I personally enjoy working with this coach. I would recommend him if you want to lose weight get strong without injuring yourself. Keep up the great work! Best coach!
I like that Hannah’s classes have a relaxed/friendly/laid back energy. She keeps us on task while also having fun. She gives good tips throughout the warmups and workouts, and good encouragement during the workout. I feel good about trying news things when she’s coaching.

His instruction and observations during the workouts have helped me improve the effectiveness of my workouts. He is also very encouraging to the new students in the class.

Class with Kris was great today, as always. She managed a large group with varying skill levels, integrated jump rope and hollow rocks into the warmup, kept the class moving and fun while still on track and provided technical feedback and encouragement during the workout. It was another fun Friday morning with Kris.

Kris Clever is an amazing coach! Kris’s passion for coaching seeps out at all levels. She’s extremely knowledgeable about technical Olympic lifts, gymnastics, and general movements patterns. She’s also super knowledgeable in the human body in general and helps to diagnose mobility issues and potential, preventable injuries. But the best thing about Kris is that she generally wants you, as an athlete, to improve your movement patterns, yo PR, and to move with integrity. She holds her athletes to the highest movement standards so we get the most out of our fitness, always pushing us to do our best and to be our best, which I really appreciate. You don’t always get that at every Crossfit gym. Many times, you simply get a coach who just explains the workout on the board, then the athlete is left to her own devices to figure out movement patterns and possibly injure herself when doing the movements incorrectly! Not with Kris!! If you want mediocre fitness, go to LAFitness. If you want elite fitness, come to VCF Athletics and train with Kris Clever. (Not to mention, Kris placed number 1 and was the Fittest on Earth in the CrossFit Games 2010, so she obviously has excellent knowledge and experience in the art of competition in the CrossFit and Hyrox arenas). If you are looking to lose weight, just get generally fit, or train for a meet or competition, come train with Kris Clever, and you will get results if you put in the work. Here is a video of me handstand walking, which Kris has been helping me with. I can’t recommend her enough as a person and as a highly effective CrossFit coach and mentor.
I left class today thinking about how great of job Luke did coaching today. His technique explanations really enhanced the workout. He also helped me find the appropriate scale making for a successful workout.
Kris is fucking awesome. I’m grateful to have a trainer who focuses on my conditioning, perfects my form, and encourages me to get stronger every class. Her extensive knowledge shines through in every session, and her warmups are hands down the best in the gym. She’s stern, laser-focused, and has a great attitude about making sure you get the most out of your workout. I show up to get my ass kicked every time and she does a damn good job making sure it happens.
I’m having an issue with my lower back and the wod didn’t look good for me. Luke was very helpful with modifying a workout for me to benefit my back. I was able to move and built a strength for my back.

Coach Luke was so helpful and welcoming. It was my first session today at Vcf . I have pain in my foot that I’m currently healing from. He was very understanding and know exactly how to guide me towards today’s workout. Also, everyone at the gym is so helpful and welcoming. Definitely looking forward to my future sessions.

Lucas was very informative and patient, I thought he explained things quite clearly. I especially liked his dynamic warmup and mobility session before the WOD , they were pretty new to me and I felt nicely primed for the workout.

William is the consummate professional. On days when I feel like I just can’t get after it he motivates me to absolutely crush. I often see him taking time to walk the neighborhood abuelitas across the street to make sure they’re safe from the insane LA drivers. He makes it feel like not just a CrossFit gym, but a CrossFit Family. Five stars.
Today’s class was fun! The combination of rope climbs, strict pull-ups, and wall walks were both challenging and rewarding. It was exciting to see the progress I’ve made from consistently practicing these movements. A huge part of that progress comes from Coach Will’s coaching during the workouts—his direct feedback on my form and technique helps me improve each time. His guidance not only pushes me but also gives me the confidence to tackle movements I once found intimidating.
Clear instruction and great energy
I loved working out in Coach Hannah’s class! She took the time to make beginners and new members like myself feel comfortable. Her light demeanor makes her very approachable and gives me the confidence to ask more questions when I don't understand a movement. She scaled a few movements, still keeping them challenging enough so I can improve get a good workout!
Great class, always enjoy a rowing workout. Slightly less intense than other days this week but just as exhausting. Good warm up with plenty of tips to incorporate in the actual WOD.
Today's training was a success, and with the advice and insights (I'm really bad at rowing) that Kris gave me, I was able to improve my result by 26 seconds better than last time! Also, Kris is one of the people with a long career in the sport of CrossFit, and we are very lucky to have her as a coach, thanks Kris Clever!
I respect how passionate Kris is about crossfit. During class, she is engaged with everyone and encourages the class to do our best! Also, I appreciate her helping me learn and maintain proper form during class.

Luke was great! He helped modify the workout to suit my injured shoulder, but it was still challenging! I always appreciate Luke’s attention to form to be sure neither I nor anyone else gets hurt.
Kris is outstanding; very professional m, knowledgeable, attentive. Her underscoring the importance of form, and demonstrating or diagramming what is meant is critical. I am 79 years old with more than a fair amount of injuries that have to be addressed in order. Form we to perform any of the movements, exercises; some I am not able to do. Kris is mindful of these issues and adapts the workout (or modified my movements) accordingly and so that I can get the maximum benefit from working out. Nothing is easy; I am challenged, winded, sweat & love it. My Physical Therapist always mentions the progress made since starting cross fit. I am appreciative of Kris & Hannah making it possible for me to participate, I look forward to mastering form, gaining strength, balance, flexibility & making progress in other areas. With expertise, guidance & patience of both Kris & Hannah I expect to accomplish this (and hopefully more),
