Dear Elia, I would follow you to the end of the earth. Thank you for all the important life lessons you've shown me. Happy Holidays!
Thank you to all the amazing coaches and training partners!
Thank you for re-igniting my desire to train BJJ and get better as a student.
Tay, I have been lucky enough to train in some of the best gyms around the world, and you truly stand out. You have a unique way of teaching, with a strong structured curriculum and an open mindset that embraces the evolving nature of jiu jitsu while always staying grounded in the timeless fundamentals. You make jiu jitsu fun, accessible, and easy to learn. I am grateful for you as my coach over the last few years, and I hope it continues for a long time. Thank you for everything.
Thank you for shaping our journey. Your guidance is building something great within us
Thank for the opportunity to train and learn. It’s has truly helped me through these hard times of substance abuse. Proud to say training helps me stay sober and be the best version of myself I can be. Thank you.
Could you imagine white belts with no Coach? lol Yea me either, and for that I’m super grateful to be apart of the academy! As a student, and competitor thank you for cultivating a successful environment for us all to grow!
Shoutout to Rhalan, Tay, and all the coaches—thank you for everything you do! This place feels like family, and I’m grateful every day that I joined the Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu crew. Cheers and Happy holidays!
Thank you for welcoming me into a new Jiu Jitsu home!
"If BJJ was easy, everyone would do it"... but you all def make it inspiring to be here. Thanks for all the support, life lessons, and ass kicking!
My daughters have changed so much for the better since they started training with you. I couldn't be more grateful to you for everything you do for them through the classes. 😍 Thank you so much for being so patient and dedicated!🫰🏽
Best bjj gym
Tay is just the BEST.
Coaches and staff are amazing! Great family vibe, everyone is willing to help each other grow. Happy to be a part of this community!
I work with Tay and Kurt. Both are awesome coaches worthy of praise. Tay is methodical and very good at breaking down moves. Super nice guy. Kurt is very knowledgeable, pragmatic and gives tips on things that "Just Work" and can be applied immediately. Overall, very happy with both, hope you can keep them!
I liked how Tay taught us to practice not passing today. Got us to learn more fundamentals
Rhalan is a great bjj instructor. He really cares for our progress. I’m Grateful to have him as a coach.
He was very patient and very understanding and did a wonderful job
Professor Tay was awesome! Always a good time when I visit San Francisco and train at Ralph’s. My home away from home. Aloha and OSS🤙🏽
He loved it and looks forward to working with you guys next month
Love Ralph Gracie jiujitsu and Tays instruction!
Ellia is great. The biggest problem with my Ralph bjj experience is that the mats are insanely old and hard, and people are constantly getting little injuries from them.
Excellent coaching with details.
Rhalan — fantastic as always, very patient, very detailed, very technical in all explanations and in sequencing of techniques and play stacking. 10/10!
Mari is amazing. She’s patient and is very good at explaining things to me. I really look up to her.
Amazing coach gaves us super technical and hard rounds and oushed us to be better. Couldnt be luckier than to train with Professor Tay!!
The form didn't let me select "Rhalan", but he taught the class today. It was fantastic!
Tay did great. It was our second class and he helped us a lot!
Today was a great day to practice the full end to end game of jiu jitsu. Starting from take downs, then mount, and a lot of conditioning as well.
Rhalan has been an amazing coach and mentor over the last two years I’ve been training @ Ralph Gracie. His patient and fundamental approach to teaching BJJ has helped me gain the confidence I need to be competitive in the art. I highly recommend coming to a class to check out the instruction and get some rolls in. You won’t regret it!
Rhalan is a fantastic coach first of all. In my beginner white belt class on Wednesday he taught us an arm bar submission from the top-mount position. Rhalan adjusted how I distribute my weight in transition, while on top, which was a huge help. Rhalan always knows how to teach those little adjustments which make an enormous difference. 10/10!
Great training today at the 7 am class. I appreciated the grip fighting and self-defense emphasis.
Awesome gym, awesome vibes, awesome coach
I had a class with Rhalan today and man! It was a blast. Rhalan always keeps the class interesting. You never expect what we are going to do with warm ups but he caters to the class. If he thinks we need to review basics then we will review basics. If he thinks that the class would benefit from a specialized warn up then we will do that. What we except from class is a specific position or move that we will focus on for a week or two so that our bodies and mind can remember by doing it in repetition. It may sound boring but it is not because even though it is the same position, we learn what to do in reaction to our opponent or what we can do to the opponent at that time. And know feel shy to ask Rhalan if you are lost! He always make sure to show you one on one if you are confused. And if you are too shy to ask, he makes sure to make his rounds around the class so that he can give you tips. A bonus is Rhalan’s cheerful nature and his encouraging energy. A bonus is that he is a funny guy and he makes me feel welcomed. Take it from me! I have been learning under him for about 2 years. Come by and learn under Rhalan!
Clear instructions and appropriate pacing for all levels.
Thought the instructions was good - thorough but concise, while helping out individually during the session
My first no-gi class was with Elia. He was incredibly patient and took the time to break down high-level concepts and techniques, even on my very first day. Whenever I can, I make sure to catch his Tuesday and Thursday classes. Thanks to him, I learned that the gi is just an illusion. Oss!
Carlos is an awesome coach who always makes the classes really fun and accommodates everyone based on their abilities and needs. If you have an injury, he will do his best to help you address it before or after class with stretches and exercises. He also makes boxing a really fun and enjoyable in a way that’s not intimidating. I’ve been in Carlos’s class since I started at the academy a year ago and the striking class has been one of my favorite all time classes at RGSF.
Good workout and technique development
Professor Rhalan is an excellent and experienced teacher. His technic is precise and he spends time and energy teaching his new technic yo all students. He is very strict in teaching technic while encouraging his students to be excellent.
Professor Rhalan is extremely dedicated in ensuring each and every one of his students gain the knowledge and step by step detail of the class. Rhalan’s passion for Jiu Jitsu and for teaching is evident, which allows for me as a student to remain engaged and eager to continue learning.
It was an especially great class - we worked on takedowns as well as ground work including passing, sweeps, and submissions - reviewing recent material. The specific training in passing was very clear and detailed, as is reliably the case for Rhalen's instruction.
Volunteered at the Need to Believe free class for special needs kids. Great energy, coaches were awesome and caring!
My class today, actually was with Coach Steven, not Nico. Coach is good, provides feedback and teach me better techniques and how to be more disciplined. He is very consistent with his teaching and he goes hard on me on sparring but I know he does for good and making more resilient.
Nico's the best! He was very patient and helpful as I learned to better my roundhouse kicks
L
Mari, The class went well, thank you for asking and the best part was probably the the guard passing and the fun games. Thank you for being my coach. Your student, Alexander (Hi Mari, Jason here. He wrote that and loves the class. Thanks for keeping him interested! See you soon!)😎
Great experience, i’ve learnt a lot
Coach Seiji was amazing! It was my first time today and I loved it. He was so nice, patient, and kind. Thank you once again.
Took the beginners/ fundamentals class today with Seiji and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m 36 yo and very active. I have zero experience with martial arts or wrestling. He slowly explained some techniques and then we practiced them on each other. I would absolutely take a future class from him. Overall, this gym is great and I highly recommend it for both men and women.
Coach Rhalan's privates were a gamechanger for me, definitely got me unstuck and I feel like I have a plan to progress again. Also some great mindset advice for competing in BJJ but also just in life. Would def do again and recommend to a friend.
Great teacher.
I loved the techniques - specifically from spider guard. Love it.
