Excellent class centered on running various distances with recovery based on the distance one covered. Very cool warmups and stretches to get everyone warmed up and ready to go. And a rockin playlist to go with the warmups and stretching. Five stars absolutely!

Wes’s class was awesome, as always. He created a really fun and motivating vibe, explained the movements in a way that gave me a new understanding of them, and helped me string together double unders and do full pistols - neither of which i had done before and neither of which would have happened without his coaching today. Wes is by far the most technically-polished coach that I work with. One thing I've noticed over the years is that the pre-WOD warmups tend to get a bit stale/repetitive, but each week Wes seems to somehow find a new movement or a new cadence that keeps it fresh and interesting. He also keeps the programming interesting (although I will still cast my vote for more gymnastics/OLY and less running lol). Wes also gives great pointers on form which I still need after all these years. A great person and an S-tier coach! Not really a development point, but one thing that I heard from another coach in yoga/pilates space who would talk out loud as we are warming up/working out - I like hearing about the muscles that I'm activating, ligaments that I'm, stretching, etc. kind of like a real Bill Nye science class. She would say 'put your mind into your latissimus dorsi as you feel the muscle pull along your ribs' (as we are doing an overhead stretch). That kind of thing. Makes the mind feel more connected to the body (and I think there's some evidence that it improves performance).

New member here, and I felt welcomed right away as soon as I walked in. The coach took the time to explain the workout plan clearly, making the whole session feel very structured and easy to follow. We focused on a mix of strength and cardio exercises that challenged me without feeling overwhelming. I appreciated how the coach noticed when my form was off during squats and helped me adjust, which made the workout more effective. By the end, I left feeling energized and accomplished, which isn’t always the case at other gyms. This level of guidance and organization makes Nela Athletics stand out as a place where you can really focus and get results.
Coach John did an awesome job. His clear instructions and step-by-step breakdowns of each part of the workout made it so much easier to understand how to approach the exercises and manage my pacing throughout the session.

I enjoyed the class today at Nela Athletics. Coach Erick guided us through each movement with clear instructions and made sure that we completed the WOD the best way possible. He paid close attention to our form, offering adjustments when needed to keep us safe and efficient. The pace was challenging at least for me, but balanced, and the energy in the room kept me motivated throughout. It was satisfying to push myself and know that Erick was there, encouraging and guiding every step of the way. This kind of focused coaching made the workout feel productive and rewarding.
Coach pheby always offers new technical tips I have not heard before that are helpful and link together our Olympic blurts. She was able to modify my workout today around an injury so it was challenging.

Coach Pheby was excited to see us the Saturday after Thanksgiving! She took the time to clearly explain our workout plan for the day, demonstrating each movement with proper technique so we could follow along safely and effectively. For those of us recovering from the Thanksgiving eat fest, she offered calming encouragement that helped ease any post-feast sluggishness. Throughout the session, Coach Pheby made a point to check in with me personally, carefully observing my form and correcting my movements. Her comments made a noticeable difference - I felt stronger and more confident in each exercise after her adjustments. Most of all, I appreciate her warm smile, the energetic shouts that kept us motivated to push through the toughest parts, and the awesome jams she was playing that created such a lively, uplifting atmosphere at Nela Athletics. Today was a lot of fun. It was more social than usual due to the 3 minute rounds so we got to learn more about John. I always appreciate John’s guidance on proper form and weight. Let’s keep doing more of these big weight days!

Coach Erick is seriously one of the best. He breaks down every lift and movement step by step so you can transition smoothly into the next part of the workout. When it comes to barbell work, he makes sure the entire class is dialed in on form before we load up weight. If he notices something off, he doesn’t just call it out, he’ll come right over and work with you one-on-one until the movement clicks. The best part is when you finally nail it, because you can see how genuinely proud he is of you. He strikes that perfect balance of keeping class focused and technical while still making it fun. Whether it’s a heavy barbell day or a full-on cardio burner, Erick makes sure you feel confident, safe, and stronger every time you leave class.
Eric is a great coach, he always keeps me on track in class, has deep technical knowledge in all the movements, and comes prepared to move a large class through a complex work out.

I always know I’m in for a good workout with Coach Lily! She fully demonstrates each portion of the workout to ensure that everyone feels confident with each movement/can modify as needed. Coach Lily is engaged throughout the workout, encouraging everyone to give their all and to work through every second. Coach Lily also gives feedback throughout the workout on form and proper technique to guarantee you are working the right muscles. I highly recommend! :)
I am always happy when Lily is the coach. She is always watching the form and will always say if you are doing well or adjustments need to be made.

Wes is a tremendous coach. He really pays attention to form and makes sure you are doing the exercises for maximum benefit. He is encouraging even when you are a beginner and your time or number of reps isn’t impressive. He yells out Good Job when you are tired and want to stop, which makes it easier to keep going. He works well with beginners but also with the athletes in class who are stronger/more advanced.

My initial feeling when I walked in was that this is a place that you can get fit and be confidant doing if. There was a very positive energy and the CrossFit class looked amazing . I didn’t make the class but worked out with free weights. The service was friendly and available to help anytime. I’ll be back again! Thank you

Lily coached our ignite workout today. It was a really fun partner workout with rowing, farmer carries and front rack holds with kettle balls. Before we get into all that though Lily coached us a through a warmup to loosen everything up before hand. Lily is one of my favorite instructors at Nela, she has a depth of understanding in body movements, posture and form during each exercise and keeps everyone on track during our workouts. She is also a lot of fun and has great music! I always feel safe in her classes, know that she is watching to make sure I am doing exercises correctly and am pushing hard enough to get a workout. I would highly recommend her class to anyone from a beginner to experienced. See you Wednesday Lily!

I thought today’s workout was great!!! Coach Wes did an awesome job of breaking down each movement and making sure we were pacing ourselves. What helped me a lot were the tips on the Turkish get-ups. I have never performed that movement before and coach Wes made it easy to go step by step and break down each part of the movement so I didn’t feel lost during the workout portion.

He always breaks down the workout in ways that make it super clear what we should be doing and he always provides alternative movements when I’m not quite ready to take on the Rx (or even the other levels). Working out with coach Erwin yesterday was a blast! We had a tough, but super fun WOD. His warm-up got us ready to go. By the end, I was totally wiped out but felt like I conquered the world while my legs were shaking 🤪. Erwin even threw in some cool recovery tips at the end. It was an awesome workout, thanks to Erwin!

Coach Wes set up the gym prior to class so that we were able to get right to work! We had a dynamic warm up with some great stretching. I was not a fan of the 100 hollow rocks but I understand that was not Wes’s doing .

Erwin was amazing! I really enjoyed his class for my 1st time there.
I’ve had two workouts with Jahi. He’s great. He’s kind and helped me to correct my form for a couple of exercises. When someone else had a back problem, Jahi helped come up with alternative versions of exercises for him. He encouraged us and made me feel like I did a good job afterwards.
I had a good class today. Coach Erwin is great at explaining the foundation and technique of each move. Explains when we are not doing the movement correct so we can improve.
Erwin is a great coach. About 12 people were at a workout today, yet he managed to give everyone the right amount of personalized attention.
Coach Erwin and Chester are are great! The is my first time participating in CrossFit and I'm learning quite a bit in the last 2 sessions. The exercises aren't new to me, but what is great is that Coach is helping correct my form to fully get the most benefits out of an exercise.💪🏼

This was my 2nd class with Lily at NELA athletics and I’ve loved how detailed instructions for work outs have been. She’s very attentive to those of us that need extra help and really keeps the class engaged even though the class has different levels of experience. The workouts are challenging but fun and I feel accomplished once I leave for the day. Over all, the gym has been very welcoming and I look forward to future workouts at NELA athletics.

The mobility class today was exactly what I needed. It taught me what to do and what to look for when I'm in certain movement and in my everyday movements. I felt lighter. Highly recommend.

Wes is unquestionably an excellent coach. He is extremely detailed in everything, and what is even more exceptional is the warm-up routine, which prepares us for the WOD. During the workout, he is watching that I do all the movements as they should be. I love Wes 💕!

Lily’s a great coach! Opened with an extensive warm up and explained the WOD in good detail about form. Encouraging and dynamic. I had some crossfit experience already but it seems that she’s up for explaining things in more detail if needed. It’s nice to train with a knowledgable coach.
He did very well. He was already coaching before, so the class started on time. As well as explaining all the movements and progressions. Class ended on time. Wes stayed motivational throughout the entire class. Thanks

I like how Erwin is engaging with every athlete helps them go thru the movements from start to finish. The stretching really helps also.
Coach Erick has been really attentive and helpful.
Coach Beret gave me both the encouragement and push when I needed it to finish the WOD. Also, her ability to point out and suggest a fix to poor form was a life saver. Nothing gets past her eagle eye.
