It was clear from day 1, about 2 weeks ago for me, that this gym is all about the community. I have been to several gyms throughout my time doing crossfit and there are only a couple that have had this level of connection and community. All of the coaches that I have interacted with have been knowledgeable and encouraging. They seem to enjoy what they do and that absolutely includes Sydney! Thank you for welcoming me and I look forward, sorta, to the pain ahead!
Coach Sydney is a great instructor who gives clear instruction and demonstrates the movement and standards for the workout. Regardless of your level of fitness and experience, she is there, she is there to help, encourage, and push you to get to your goal.
Stephanie was polite and welcoming, introducing herself by name and asking mine before class started since I’m new to CrossFit Sumter. Before we began the workout, she carefully went over each motion in detail, making sure everyone understood the proper form and sequence.
Great CrossFit gym and the instructions and guidance are very helpful throughout every workout. The coaches at CrossFit Sumter create an extremely welcoming and comforting atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease, whether you’re a veteran of CrossFit, returning after time away, or just starting out. They take the time to explain each movement clearly, watch your form closely, and offer modifications when needed, making sure everyone feels supported and challenged at their own level. The energy in the gym feels genuine and motivating, with coaches checking in regularly to encourage and adjust as you go. This combination of expert guidance and a friendly environment makes every session feel productive and enjoyable.
Jay is a great coach. He not only watches form to keep you safe, but he also gives lots of tips and cues to help you progress forward as an individual.

I recently moved to Sumter and was looking for a new gym. CFS uses Mayhem programming, which I like because it incorporates either strength or skill work prior to the workout to develop those capabilities (but not so much you’re destroyed for the workout). Sydney was great, providing effective scaling options and recommendations to a class of varied fitness and also providing expectation management on the stimulus. Overall, it was a great experience, and I signed up for a membership that day!

If you’re looking for someone who leads with heart, experience, and energy — Sydney is the real deal. I now know what it feels like to lift heavy things, make weird noises while doing it, and bond with strangers through shared pain and sweat puddles. I’ve PR’d, I’ve almost thrown up, and yes — I’ve signed up for more. You’ll want to keep coming back.

Great workout. Even tho it went long it was due to solid coaching. Im huge on getting form right over heavy weight and good inputs on squat cleans fixed uncomfortable movement for me.
Easy going but Knowledge, Gabbi did a great job engaging with all atendees and demonstrated modifications for every excercise. Very pleasant to be coached by.

CFS has turned into another community/family/home in the last 6 months. The coaches are super nice and truly helpful, each class they go through each movement to really help the class and get the most of the workout! I always look forward to the classes and events CFS hosts.
Gabbi is always thorough in explaining the workout and standards. She also gives good modifications if you’re unable to do all the movements as written. I was able to do my first workout post surgery completely RX today. I’m happy with my progress, the coaches, and programming!!

Gabbi is a great coach. She’s very knowledgeable on every aspect of CrossFit. She makes corrections on form throughout the workout and incredibly supportive of each persons individual goals
Lisa was the coach today and she was great! She was helpful, nice and kept everything flowing. The workout was strenuous, but not over exerting. It was a great way to start the day!
Love working out with Sydney! She always emphasizes safety first (eg go light until you get the form right) and can demonstrate new stretches and exercises to help problem areas. Wish I could do as many wall push ups as sh3 can…

I love how coach Gabbi coaches. She really takes time to explain every movement (warm up, strength, stretching) and gives you feedback. Absolutely one of the best CrossFit coaches I’ve had.
