Today was my first group session and Joy made me feel very welcomed and was very good at making sure workouts were clear and the process and goals were clearly understood. Helping with form and checking on every one to make sure people are staying safe but encouraging pushing through the challenges in such a positive manner was so helpful. Coming into such a welcoming gym and caring team was everything I was looking for! Can’t wait for the future classes and to grow and become a regular part of the CrossFit Northside family!!
I appreciated the feedback from Joy as we worked out, especially when she pointed out how I could make an exercise a bit harder by adjusting my form. As a newbie to CrossFit, having that kind of guidance was so helpful - it helped me feel more confident and challenged without being overwhelmed.

Today was a long workout and I’m sure hard to coach. But Carly did a great job of walking around the entire class, checking in with everybody individually, and paying close attention to each person's form and effort. She clearly knows people’s limitations and was quick to offer alternative movements when the step ups from today didn’t work for someone’s knees or balance. I appreciated how she didn’t just call out the workout but took the time to personalize it on the spot, making sure everyone could keep up safely without feeling left out. Carly’s calm and encouraging presence made even the toughest moments feel manageable. She’s always wonderful to have as a coach because she balances pushing you just enough while respecting where you’re at physically. That kind of thoughtful coaching makes CrossFit Northside a place where I feel supported and challenged at the same time.

Melissa is an amazing coach! I am fairly new to CrossFit and new to CrossFit Northside. She is super helpful and encouraging throughout every workout. She takes the time to observe each movement carefully, then helps modify exercises so they fit my current abilities. She meets people where they are at, whether that means adjusting the weight, breaking down complex moves, or offering clear instructions.
Pat is a wealth of knowledge and seemingly endless energy! Even with the classes being packed with members he makes sure to check in on everyone.

Melissa is fun, energetic, and welcoming. I love that she brings everyone to the board. Explains movements to the whole and then has us gather to work on them. She organizes gym chaos well. She checks in, corrects form, and cheers. All of this done in a constructive manner. I’m on day two at Northside and I’ve quickly fallen in love!

We had a challenge new skill for me today. Wall handstands. Not wall walkups, but from standing to handstands against the wall. I was hesitant but wanted to push myself so I asked Matt for help. He guided me through the process making recommendations and adjustments. By the time we did the workout I could confidently complete the skill. Thanks Matt!

I love Pat’s style, his enthusiasm, and his desire to connect individually with everyone attending his class. It is obvious he has a plethora of knowledge when it comes to technique with each movement and lift. I’ve noticed he gives specific pointers to attendees if they are struggling with form, or need advice on how to approach the workout. I have fun in his classes and truly enjoy having him as a coach.

How lucky am I to have crossed paths with Pat Brown during my CrossFit journey. I have enjoyed many coaches over my 8 years and Pat is, hands down, the best of the best. He has an undeniable gift of teaching, coaching, demonstrating, motivating, encouraging and heck, even making me laugh while face planting a burpee. It has been a minute since I have been purely excited to show up for the next class. I owe my perspective shift to him and can’t wait for whatever workout tomorrow brings. She holds the class accountable in a genuinely positive way—pushing us when it gets tough while keeping the vibe encouraging, not intimidating. What I value most is how personal she makes it: with me she’s direct and bold (almost a call-out when I need it), while with others she dials it back—still firm, just less stern. She reads the room and the person. I really appreciate how she spots the small things (grip, foot position, breathing, pacing) and gives clear, actionable cues that immediately make you better. She also takes time to explain the why behind the programming and each movement, so you leave the hour not just worked—but smarter and more confident. Efficient, upbeat, and professional. Highly recommend.

I thought Zacq did a great job pointing out common faults during the front squats. He explain the focus of the metcon well and suggested appropriate scaling methods. Most importantly, he was very welcoming on my first day and I thought it was a great coach.
I had a great time today! Being new, I really appreciated the time you took to go over each of the exercises and the form of each one. I also really liked how encouraging you were and how you wanted each of us to make the workout our own and modify it if needed. (We all know I needed that more than anyone haha)
I look forward to Melissa's classes. She is everything you want a great coach to be. Encouraging but not overbearing. Eager to help. Ensures she has something to say to everyone in class whether its an affirmation or a pointer. You can tell she's just a really great person.

So glad to have Coach Pat back after his time away for Guard Reserve training! He jumped right back in like he never left and brought great energy to the gym. Will was a great coach! He explained the warm up movements thoroughly and gave explanations for why they were necessary. During the workout, he was encouraging and attentive. He was welcoming and made an effort to engage with everyone in the class.
Shane does a great job of providing modifications for people like me who are broken or don’t really consider themselves an athlete and watches every member. There is a saying the CrossFit is for everyone. Shane made that possible in class.

Shane was great! I have a few injuries I have to work around and he was thoughtful and kind. He gave me scaling options in case of pain and checked in with me during the workout. The only thing I can think of is that deadlifting wasn’t demonstrated prior to beginning the workout…which wasn’t an issue for me and my sister since we are not new to them…but perhaps could have been for some less experienced athletes. We had an excellent time! Will come back for sure. Thanks so much!

The class was great! Atmosphere wise, it felt good. Mel carried on conversations, she engaged with what seemed like everyone on an individual basis and she was fun and inviting! From a coaching standpoint, this was a hard one to coach! A lot of running and a lot of sumo deadlift high pulls…of course Tamra did a fantastic job walking around and giving everyone little reminders of full extension and using the hips to finish the movement. I think with time, patience and continued development, Mel is going to be a great coach!

Class was fast paced and straight to the point which in return we got a lot of work done. Instructions on correct movements were thorough and thought out. Overall great class and coaching Tamra!
