I worked out at John’s gym previously and was coached by him consistently about 2 years ago. Today I attended a class coached by him and the growth he has shown as a coach is staggering. He was always a good coach but he’s a great coach now. 10/10
Coach Katie is the best! She brings the energy and fun to every class she coaches! She breaks down movements very well so that everyone on class has proper form and can properly scale for the movements of the day. She is extremely supportive and helpful as well!

Today was my first group class and it happened to be a partner workout! I started out dazed, nervous, clueless, and conscious. I think coach Kyle could tell because he jumped right in to help me every step of the way. He explained the form, fixed mine, and appreciated when I did well. I'll admit i was feeling embarrassed about not being as capable as others and being given lesser reps and weight. But... it was super challenging regardless. Finally, coach Kyle listened to me patiently when I told him how I felt and assured me that it's part of the process!
So good at noticing small things that need to change to improve your movement and workout.

Great class. It was my first class going for a PR on squat. I suppose this review is really for Eric as he was my lifting partner during the squat portion. He gave great pointed feedback on form as well as help me understand when and how to receive spot support.
Kyle develops a strength and conditioning plan specific to your needs and goals. If you want to be stronger and more agile for a specific sport, he will develop a plan that challenges and progresses over time. If you have a chronic ailment and/or a nagging issue he can ensure you continue to strive towards your goals while working around and through your issues. Secondly, he is physically there always focused on your movements to ensure you do them properly
Love her focus on form and clear instructions as we lead up to our main workout. And very much appreciate the pointers along the way, as well as the encouragements. I always feel like Kristin has my back - and I need all the help I can get. Thank you for the excellent guidance and coaching.

I appreciate how Kyle provides modification options as part of the workout instruction to the entire class, even though we all know it's really mostly for me. This makes it easier to feel like part of the group.
First off today’s class was unbelievably helpful coming from someone who has struggled to get double unders and rarely feels confident just throwing them in a high volume workout! Kyle did a great job of demonstrating every level and clearly stating how things could be modified for ability and flexibility (I’m never getting straight leg v-ups). Great class!
Really liked today’s session — it was hard though it looked simple . The mix of push ups and running was exhausting . I liked how you help customize the workout based on an individual capability but push to always do more. You kept the energy up the whole time. My legs are dead 😀but I actually had a lot of fun — great class!

Joihn and all of the coaches are so supportive and encouraging - not just for technique and the particular exercise but for confidence and morale. You don’t feel like you’re being judged, you feel like you’re being supported and encouraged. As a beginner who has not worked out at any level for sometime, it can be daunting, but the team at CFA’s amazing!
Kyle was incredibly welcoming and positive right from me entering. Made me feel like I belonged, gave some great tips, and ran a solid class all around. Will definitely be coming back - in no small part because of the first impression Kyle made.

Today's class was strenuous and challenging. I have a suggestion: For some of the sessions where it's important to watch the timer in order to know what to do next, having the timer visible in the direction we are facing would help. Perhaps we could set up the exercise so we're facing the timer, or find a way to add a timer to the screen we are facing.
I recently joined the Mom’s CrossFit program with Coach Nick and I can’t say enough good things! I hadn’t worked out in 3 years, and this has been such a perfect transition to getting back into shape. Nick is encouraging, knowledgeable, and makes every class approachable yet challenging. I already feel stronger and more motivated, and I’m so grateful to have found this program!
Kyle is an engaging and supportive coach. He demonstrates all of the movements clearly and is always willing to offer suggestions for modifications while still making you feel like a champ!

This was a Great intro class, Nick was super welcoming and made everyone feel comfortable with modifications. He was super clear with his instructions! I like that he gave options to scale up or down the workout based on everyone’s fitness and preferences . Also I liked having the clock /timer super visible and the workout posted on the screen so we knew what was coming next.

It’s a really good gym and a lot of great members. I visited after a few years being away and here is what I realize: 1. The space is still pretty neat and clean with plenty of parking. 2. Coaches are still attentive. 3. Everyone participating in class is honestly trying to build a healthy lifestyle. 4. If you don’t know what to do for a workout, come here and take a class. There is a workout of the day that you get to do with everyone with the supervision of a coach. I am out of shape so it’s great to be with people getting a workout done and wanting better for themself.

Always happy to push and motivate one to finish. Great job at explaining how workouts should be done. For example kettlebell swings coming back down he said to “act like you have a button on your hip and you’re pressing it before you bend back” definitely helped with doing the swing correctly.
Kyle was great. He showed a ton of variations of the workout based on your capabilities. I found it very helpful. Plus is was a good workout.
Big shoutout to Coach Kyle! He helped me dial in my Squat Snatch form today. One thing I really appreciate—he always pays attention to everyone in class, no matter how packed it is. You can tell he genuinely cares about helping each person get better.

The experience at Crossfit Ares is always extremely positive! The coaching staff is always very welcoming and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable woth the workouts and movements. All around great experience!
John does a great job of explaining the workout quickly, efficiently but with detail. I like the structure of class (warmup, strength, workout, cool down). I enjoyed having time to build on the strength exercise at our own pace and perfect the technique. John always giving pointers. The workout portion was great to push yourself, get a sweat up, whatever stage you are in. Then ending on the cool down… who doesn’t love a cool down.
Nick was welcoming, did great explaining the workout and movements. The gym is nice, I enjoyed my visit to CrossFit Area!

The patience and competence of the coaches at CrossFit Ares cannot be understated. Nick is great at subtly identifying where I can improve, and offering suggestions that are both encouraging and easy to understand. Working out in a supportive environment makes all the difference and the reason I’ve been able to stay at it!
Class was great today. It was my first day back after a couple weeks away and I definitely didn't have as much gas in the tank as usual. But, even in my less than optimal state, I was particularly helped by a couple of cues that were given to me during the workout and I could feel the immediate results of lifting with corrected form. John's knowledge is robust, but his gift of coaching and appropriately applying that knowledge continues to help me improve- even on my off days. Had a great first class with Robert. The small class size promotes a constant learning environment which is ideal for any of the barbell work. The workout itself was a good challenge. My first impression of the gym was very welcoming and clean which isn't always the case at CrossFit gyms.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced athlete, he has a remarkable ability to meet you where you are, offering tailored guidance and encouragement. His passion for making CrossFit accessible to everyone—whether you're a mom juggling kids or an athlete pushing your limits—shines through in every class. He’s incredibly patient but also knows how to challenge you just enough to leave each session feeling proud of what you've accomplished. Great gym! Everyone is friendly and the space is clean. Refreshing to find a place that is kid friendly. My only request would be daily programming that has a warm up, lift of the day and then a Metcon/WOD to end since I can only get there 3x a week.

Nick wad awesome today. Movements were explained well and he gave us clear points of attention. During the workout he pointed out some areas for improvement and suggested how to correct/improve them.
Today's WOD was a more traditional CrossFit workout, which I wish we did somewhat more often. Nick gave us one thing to work on per movement, which is a good coaching tactic. I heard him give tips to people throughout the warm up and the WOD, so he was actively coaching the whole time. One thing I wish the CrossFit Ares coaches would focus on is how movements feel, not just how they look - I suspect many people would reach the next level of improvement more quickly with a sense of how movements feel in their bodies: where muscles are tightening when, what it feels like to drive power from the middle of the foot instead of the ball of the foot, being aware of body position, etc. Overall I find that CFA is very strong with its coaching, this is just something to consider for purposes of continual improvement.
It was very nostalgic to come in today for open gym today. It’s great to still receive the emails & see the posts on how the gym, coaches and community have been growing in the past 3 years. But I will never forgot who that person was 3 years ago that took there time to get me started on this unbelievable journey. Thank you Coach John!!
Kristin is the freaking best. I was in a slump yesterday and it was a big deal to have down up. Kristin gave me space to work through the workout but was always present nearby if I had any questions. She stepped in with reminders about technique when it was justified to keep me safe but otherwise just let me grind, and I really appreciated that. My schedule has sucked lately and it's been really hard to get to the gym but Kristin brings such positivity to class and just generally leads an awesome session. Specifically, Kristin is able to describe how to approach most movements in a ton of different ways with different verbal cues which I find really helpful.

I don’t always want to go to the gym, but at CFA, I know that once I am there, I am so glad I went. Of course, there is value in challenging yourself physically, and I’ve gotten stronger and can do things now I couldn’t do two years ago. But it’s the community that truly makes this place special and keeps me coming back. The people at CFA actually care about me as a human being, complete with struggles and triumphs, and not as a client who exists to generate profit. I feel seen and appreciated and embraced on my worst days and on my best days. Hands down the best gym experience I’ve ever had, and I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to try it.

First class I had with Kyle as the coach. Kyle was awesome. First thing he did when I arrived this morning, he introduced himself. He then listened to all my excuses as to why this crossfit stuff is hard for me to do, he smiled and told me no need to worry, and I believed him! He was very clear with his instructions on what the workout would be. For me he was the perfect amount of checking on me to make sure my technique is correct, cheerleading and pushing to reach my full potential. Great coach! Great workout ! Great gym!
